A Memorable Evening Celebrating Art, Legacy, and International Friendship
I had the pleasure of attending the inauguration of an extraordinary cultural event at the Fundació Joan Miró in Barcelona: the official presentation of the donation of the Katsuta Collection by Japanese collector Kazumasa Katsuta, one of the most important collectors of Joan Miró's work in Japan.
This remarkable donation, which will be transferred to the Foundation over the next decade, includes 37 significant works: 29 paintings, 6 sculptures, and 2 ceramics. It represents not only an exceptional artistic contribution but also a powerful symbol of the enduring cultural ties between Japan, Catalonia, and Spain.
One of the highlights of the evening was the opportunity to meet Joan Miró's grandchildren, whose presence added a deeply personal and meaningful dimension to the event. Seeing the artist's family participate in the celebration of his legacy was a reminder that great art continues to unite generations and cultures.
The event brought together representatives from the cultural, diplomatic, and business communities, including members of the Japanese community in Barcelona, further reinforcing the spirit of friendship and collaboration that inspired this initiative.
My sincere congratulations to the Fundació Joan Miró, Mr. Kazumasa Katsuta, and all those who made this exceptional project possible. Events like this remind us of the unique power of art to build bridges across borders and connect people through shared values and creativity.
